Colors of Mexico Introduction

While the world, and eventually, my year abroad in California, was falling apart because of a microscopic virus, I had to make one of the hardest decisions I would ever have to make: facing my own responsibility and overcoming my anxiety. I refused to get back to my parents’ home in France and joined my boyfriend in Mexico City instead.

Hi, my name is Thomas Girard, I am French, but I have been living in Mexico City for more than four months now. Along my journey here, I have discovered one of the richest cultures in the world but too often reduced to its violence and corruption. I hope I will be able to share this in my column and give you all another image of Mexico.

Throughout this journey, I have also personally grown and learnt a lot about life. Settling down in a totally unknown country for me, I needed to adapt to new customs and habits. My experience taught me a lot about freedom, open-mindedness, adaptation and happiness and I thought that it could be inspirational for you guys.

Colors of Mexico is a trip to Mexico through its culture, art, literature, etc., … In times where travelling is restricted, I am offering you a “trip from home” to one of the greatest countries I have ever visited. Each color gets its own place in this country and they are going to be our starting point. So, are you guys ready for a journey through the Colors of Mexico?
